This is VHS-2026-198, Pistol Pete’s Homework Basketball: Dribbling. Produced in 1987 by LA Production Group Inc. Part of a four-tape series: Shooting, Dribbling, Passing, Ball Handling.
About This Tape
Maravich scored 3,667 points in college at 44.2 points per game. Nobody has touched that record. He was a Hall of Famer by the time he made this tape, already a legend, already considered one of the most skilled players who ever played the game.
The Homework Basketball series has a cult following among basketball coaches and collectors. The drills are specific, the instruction is genuinely good, and watching Maravich do things with a basketball that shouldn’t be physically possible is still worth the runtime.
The full series is on YouTube if you want to watch it. But the VHS, from 1987, with Maravich on the cover, made while he was still alive — that’s a different object entirely.
Basketball collectors look for these. The complete series in original VHS is not something you stumble across.
