The shows themselves are available. David Blaine: Drowned Alive streams on Tubi. The Dr. Phil special is documented. But the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line ad in the commercial breaks has no verifiable online archive presence. Regional public health PSAs from 2005 are exactly the kind of thing that disappears. If you have a copy of that specific spot, it is worth preserving.
About This Tape
Plain black VHS. No label, no sleeve, no markings. The contents: a Dr. Phil Primetime Special titled Escaping Addiction (original air date May 20, 2005, commercials mostly skipped via TiVo) followed by David Blaine: Drowned Alive playing three times in a row with mid-2000s commercial breaks between each run.
The Blaine special covers his 2006 stunt at Lincoln Center where he lived submerged in a tank of water for seven days, then attempted to break the world record for breath-holding. He failed at the record. Chat eulogized the failure with Linkin Park lyrics.
