South Philly Italian Style is a 1997 WHYY documentary hosted by Bobby Rydell. The package calls it “A Serenade to the Cultural Capital of Philadelphia’s Italian-American Community.”
Its printed synopsis begins with Anthony Esposito arriving by horse-drawn carriage to serenade his bride-to-be. Then there is dancing in the street.
The one-hour tape has not been reviewed yet. It says “Street-Corner Opera at Palumbo’s” right on the sleeve. Nobody was taking the quiet route.
