This JVC tape has part of the June 15, 1997 U.S. Open broadcast, with Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods on the coverage. It is in a Samsung sleeve, because VHS did not care about brand consistency.
The commercial breaks are full of late-90s golf television: Lincoln Town Car, TaylorMade, Big Bertha clubs, a Blackhawk Golf Club fitting ad, Freeport-McMoRan, United Airlines promoting its meals, and a USGA membership offer with a rules book.
The stream started February 19, 2026 and did not reach the end of the tape. More remains unknown. That is a better ending than pretending a golf broadcast has ever been in a hurry.
