Craig’s notes

The satellite introduction has plenty of CGI, and then there’s Discover Engineering. It’s part three of three, with a Bechtel film about engineering in the program. I finished the tape July 7, 2026.

On this tape

Discover Engineering is a University of Washington and NTU satellite program presented by engineering dean Dr. J. Ray Bowen. The printed schedule gives February 19, 1991, 4 to 5 p.m. Eastern, on Channel A. It recommends taping the program for delayed viewing at participating sites; who recorded this copy is unknown.

  • Animated satellite introduction with CGI.
  • Keith Holsapple moderates; Dr. J. Ray Bowen makes remarks.
  • Engineering: Turning Ideas into Reality, produced by Bechtel; footage includes a Disney Star Wars ride.
  • Engineering discussions in the viewing notes name Ron Bucknam, Linda Desmarteau and Robert Schneider.

The label identifies this as part 3 of 3; the other parts are not established on this tape.
