Craig’s notes
This KWCH recording gave us Dr. Quinn and then one of those long commercial stretches that keeps changing the question of when and where you are. KFC offered four Crispy Strips for $2.99. There was an ad for The Little Rascals on VHS, an AIDS hotline message, a Frosted Mini-Wheats teacher, and Campbell's very excited Fiesta Soup. Then Breyers Viennetta appeared. I used to think that stuff was so classy.
The local material made the breaks more interesting: Carpet One advertised a sale in Pawnee, KWCH had its own news spots, and a Honda Accord ad talked about Ohio. I kept checking the episode and ad clues with chat to narrow the date. Even when the promos pointed us toward February 1995, that was a conclusion from the broadcast sequence, not a date written on the sleeve. I was waiting for the next commercial break and managed to miss one while moving through Dr. Quinn.
After the station news and more CBS promos, Here Comes the Bride, There Goes the Groom began. I caught its opening but stopped before the rest of the special or the tape. The ads and station material here are what we actually got to examine; anything later on this recording still needs a viewing.
