Choosing the Right Door Size
Some common widths for doors are:
Bedrooms – 2’6″
Bathrooms – 2’4″
Small closets – 2′
However, the minimum recommended width for wheelchair accessibility is 2’8″, and a 3′ door is preferred.
Standard height for interior doors is 6’8″, though on upper floors of older houses 6’6″ is allowable.
Exterior doors are usually 1 3/4″ thick and not less than 6’8″ high. Main entrance doors must be 3 feet wide. In some places, side and rear service doors can be 2’8″.
Wood thresholds should be oak because it wears better than other types.
