This Columbus tape is dated July 15, 1999. It includes Jerry Springer on WSYX ABC 6, Jenny Jones, and part of The Young and the Restless. The Jerry Springer episode is labeled “Sex Star Fantasies.” Jenny Jones gets “My Family Won’t Stop Calling Me Fat.” Then the tape keeps going long enough to catch a different kind of late-90s television: credit repair, furniture outlets, local attorneys, and the sound of every business in town trying to get on daytime TV.
The Springer block has Value City, PCDI offering a high-school diploma at home, Fury Vacuum promising it “devours dirt,” Masterclean, Scioto Downs, and a Columbus One-to-One dating line that was free for women. A WWF Raw Is War promotion runs for the Schottenstein Center with Ricart Auto attached. Somebody in a conference room had to decide which part of that arrangement was the main event.
Jenny Jones brings the Columbus Bar Association, Pierre’s Ice Cream, a Cord Camera photo contest, Franklin County Children Services looking for foster parents, and a 10TV Jazz and Rib Fest promotion. The partial Young and the Restless segment has a Swiffer ad, Geico’s chicken truck, Frank’s Red Hot Blues, a news promo for Easton Town Center’s grand opening, and a Paramount’s Kings Island spot that cuts off before it finishes.
