Pistol Pete’s Homework Basketball: Shooting

Same deal as the Dribbling tape. Pete Maravich, 1987, shooting instruction. Same series. Same producer. Made less than a year before he died.

This is VHS-2026-199, Pistol Pete’s Homework Basketball: Shooting. Produced in 1987 by LA Production Group Inc. Companion tape to the Dribbling volume.

About This Tape

The Shooting tape is probably the most-watched in the series. Maravich’s shooting mechanics were considered unconventional — unorthodox form, ridiculous results. Watching him break down the shot on tape is genuinely useful if you’re a basketball player and a little surreal if you know the timeline.

He died January 5, 1988. He was 40. He collapsed during a pickup game at a church gym. The autopsy found a congenital heart defect he’d never known about.

The full Homework Basketball series is on YouTube. But the original VHS objects — made in 1987 with Maravich still alive — are what collectors look for. This is the Shooting tape. The Dribbling tape is also in the archive (VHS-2026-198).
