Grove City Church of the Nazarene presents Send Us the Promise, billed as an original musical drama of ‘history’s greatest event.’ That is an ambitious assignment for a production, and I’m curious how they approached it.
A church musical can involve considerably more work than the finished tape lets on. I’m imagining rehearsals fitted around ordinary lives, someone working out where everybody should stand, and the moment it all has to happen in front of an audience. Was this recorded from the room, or staged for the camera? I haven’t watched it yet. I’d like to see the scale of the show they built around that promise.
