Craig’s notes
James Earl Jones showed up in The Vernon Johns Story when I put this tape in, with a Fox 28 channel bug on screen. A VHS Detective helped identify the movie while I was still figuring out what I had put in the VCR. I had been expecting either cops or rock from the handwritten “Cops Rock” label. I even wondered if it meant Cop Rock.
Then came the ads. Big Sur Waterbeds had an IRS sale, which stood for “I Really Saved,” and Ron Rush Lincoln-Mercury ran a football-themed pitch. After all those breaks, Baywatch appeared for a moment and gave way to COPS. I stopped during COPS, so there’s more to watch. I still don’t know what the person who wrote “Cops Rock” meant; my theory about a COPS marathon is just a theory.
