Invader Zim, Pop-Up Brady, Disney Channel and WLIO broadcast mix
Craig’s notes
The label gave me Jetsons Movie and Invader Zim. It left out most of the good stuff. First came a Nickelodeon airing of two Zim episodes and a Nicktoons bumper. Then the tape moved to Nick at Nite, and I found The Brady Bunch with pop-up facts all over “The Cincinnati Kid.” The Kings Island connection makes this one of my favorite Brady episodes, so finding the version with pop-up facts was a big deal for me. I started looking for another copy while it played; a short clip and other collector discussion were enough to cool down my first thought that we'd found something completely unavailable.
The episode cuts off roughly three quarters of the way through, right when I wanted the rest. Suddenly we're on Disney Channel preview weekend with Jetsons: The Movie. The preview offers and promos around the film were nearly as interesting to me as the movie, and then Quantum Leap turned up too. On the second viewing I followed Quantum Leap into WLIO's Lima News Journal. That last turn gave the tape an actual local newscast, with stories about Roger Coleman, a gas explosion, the presidential race and Dan Quayle arguing about Murphy Brown. I started with cartoons and ended in Lima local news. The person who wrote the label really undersold this one.
