Vincent Price Teaches 3D Photography — Nishika N8000 Instructional (1989)

Vincent Price went to Cypress Gardens in 1989 to teach you how to take 3D photographs. This is not a joke. The Nishika Corporation hired him to host the instructional video for their N8000 lenticular camera, and he is completely committed to the bit. We streamed it on March 3 and it is genuinely one of the best tapes we have watched on stream.

The Nishika N8000 was a 3D camera that used standard 35mm film and two frames per picture to create lenticular images you could view without glasses. The camera is collectible now. The video was produced in 1989 — one of Price’s final appearances before his death in 1993 — and he brings his full professional warmth to the project. Cypress Gardens footage, birthday party scenes, careful instruction on getting the depth right. He treats a camera promotional video with the same gravity he gave everything else.

The tape has an IMDb entry (tt0290078) and copies circulate on eBay and Amazon, so it is not lost in the traditional sense. But it is absolutely not freely streamable anywhere, and finding a clean physical copy is its own small adventure. The 3D photography guidelines insert was still inside this one. Chat’s response to “Vincent Price is your personal 3D photography instructor” was exactly what you would expect — and then the tape just kept delivering.
