Craig’s notes
The tape says Twilight Zone and Swale, and I was curious which one we were getting. We got a Sci-Fi Channel marathon. I like the old episodes, but I couldn't show them on stream, so we spent most of our time in the breaks. I even liked those little episode cards that tell you what's coming up.
The ads gave us something to work with. A Full Spectrum Lending pitch sent me off on a long rant about getting turned down for a car loan despite good credit. Later I got stuck on a Propecia warning that says it's for men and then immediately warns pregnant women not to handle broken tablets. The Virus trailer says the film opens Friday, January 15. That release date was January 15, 1999, which helped me narrow this New Year's marathon to the turn of 1998 and 1999. It doesn't tell me the exact day somebody recorded it.
After a few episode cards, the same commercials kept coming back. I liked Diet Debbie the first time; I did not need Diet Debbie all night. By the time another Folgers ad appeared, I was complaining about commercial fatigue and ready for another tape. We switched just after the card for The Mighty Casey. I never reached whatever 'Swale' refers to on the handwritten label.
